I have had the great pleasure to work on a project that has been simply exhilarating! Recently, I was asked what I thought Kate Middleton’s bridal bouquet design would include. Hmmmm, I thought, this is going to take some research.

Not given a lot of time to produce an essay that would hopefully yield success, I began to google and bing and then add my creative twist to what I figured was going to be a difficult task. Like anything, though, when we focus, we produce sensational!
I found the following facts to be extremely intriguing, so here goes….
The Royal Wedding--Expected Floral Design & Décor:

White Lilies--said to be Kate Middleton's favorite flower.

Spring of Myrtle--otherwise known as the Herb of Love, this has been included in royal bouquets since Queen Victoria's wedding in 1840. Royal brides have pulled the sprig from the bush she planted in the garden at Osborne House.

White Daffodils--which symbolize Prince Williams' status as one of the Princes of Wales.

Fairtrade Roses from Kenya--which is where Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton and reportedly, has said he feels like Kenya is his second home.

Fragrant Options--
Snowdrops | Orchids | Lily of the Valley--shown

David Austin Roses--very famous and popular breed of roses grown in the UK and part of the Royal Garden.

Highgrove House--an organic garden for flowers and produce owned by Prince Charles, so organic is truly the natural option for all of the flowers used.
With my research completed and my vision in mind, I sent away the materials to Organic Bouquet who had hired me as their consultant. They submitted my design to the ABC new producers and, lo and behold, we were chosen!! Organic Bouquet was the feature segment in their ongoing series on ABC, “The Royal Diary”, which aired on March 14, 2011. ABC News would now like to feature Organic Bouquet’s Robert McLaughlin as the on-air wedding expert to discuss the different types of floral arrangements that would be at the royal wedding. The host, Tanya Rivero, will be on set discussing the expected floral design and décor with Robert.

Once we knew my bouquet design was going to be featured, we had about 4 days to secure all of the specialized floral. I was on a mission for ‘royal florals’ and proceeded with all out energy to design a bouquet suitable for royalty. Many American brides today choose the hand-held bouquet styles – these are great bouquets that are produced in various designs, sizes, and budgets. However, the Royal Wedding would lend itself to a more intricately, elaborately styled cascading bouquet. These bouquets are definitely much more labor intensive and as a result, create a demanding budget.

If you haven’t already done so, please take a moment to view the video. As I hope you’ll agree, we have created a stunning cascading bouquet fit for a princess and suitable for a likely Queen.
